For obvious reasons, losing weight quickly is usually the number one goal of most brides-to-be. There are hundreds of “lose weight fast” diets and work out regimens to try. There’s the Master Cleanse, the grapefruit diet, Atkins, and the Paleo Diet to name a few. And while these often work in the short run, they may also leave you feeling tired, hunger and frustrated. And being hungry, tired and frustrated while wedding planning is a recipe for disaster. I spoke with fitness coach Jeffery Rice, who runs a Bridal Boot Camp in Philadelphia. He had some great tips for brides who want to lose weight fast for their wedding. Even if you can’t afford a Bridal Boot Camp or a personal trainer, Jeffery’s tips apply to everyone and are worth reading. 1. Give Yourself Enough Time To Lose The Weight Most brides wait til the last minute
For most brides, after pulling together the money to purchase their dream dress, it can come as shock to realize how expensive it can be to have it altered. And the search for affordable wedding dress alterations can leave you frustrated and hopeless. As annoying as it may be, almost all wedding gowns will need to be hemmed and taken in at the waist. Also, if the dress has any sort of a train, it will need to be bustled (a little hook or hooks that pick up the back of the dress allowing you to dance and move without your dress being stepped on). Changing the neckline (to a ‘sweetheart neckline’ for example) and adding embellishment (belts, sequins, etc.) will add even more to the bill. When I started researching budget honeymoon destinations, I looked for places that were beachy, luxurious and affordable. Somewhere we could spend freely without constantly watching our bank account because a single drink cost $12. So even though the recession has the US Dollars value falling steadily, there are still some places where the US Dollar can get us a lot more for your money. It may not be cheap to get to some of these destinations, but they do offer the most bang for your buck once you get there. Thailand: If you can afford the long flight, with the USD converting to roughly 30 Baht, Thailand is somewhere you will want to consider. In my search for a budget wedding dress, David’s Bridal wasn’t at the top of my list. Years before I got engaged, I can recall various friends and co-workers scrunching up their faces in disgust at the very mention of David’s Bridal. It seemed to be known as the last place anyone wanted to go to for their wedding dress. A store with low quality, out of style dresses. Of course I’d heard of brides who ended up buying their dress from DB but they rarely admitted it and when they did, it was in hushed tones. I also remembered those awful commercials they used to have with the awful dresses with the puffy shoulder pads. Fast forward to a little over 1 year ago. Before I actually got the ring I was searching for dresses online. I wasn’t crazy. I knew the ring was coming. I searched various
